2 vols. 4to, original half brown morocco and gilt-stamped vellum, spines lettered in gilt, raised bands, t.e.g. First American edition. One of 250 copies of the Demy Quarto Edition de Luxe, signed by the author. Illustrated with numerous wood engravings, three folding maps (linen-backed), and six original etched plates signed in pencil by the artist, G. Montbard. Hinges cracked; some slight warping; very light browning to rear pages; rubbing and soiling to boards; otherwise fine.
